Alam's father Shahbuddin started a small food joint in Bori Mohalla in the year 1986. Alam started helping him when he was just 9 years old in the year 1987.

His father is a very simple but a principle based man. His motto in life is, 'Never Compromise On Quality no matter what'. For him every customer is the same; he never differentiated between customers and it did not matter if the customer was rich or poor he would give them the best service that he could provide.

When Alam started working his father first told him that he would have to take orders from customers as he wanted him to learn the art of interacting with customers, as it is the most important thing in the field of hospitality. Alam quickly learned that, and then wanted to learn more about cooking, so his father taught him how to make Tava items and how to choose the proper fresh spices and raw materials for preparing a quality and full of flavors meal. His father soon realized that Alam was excellent in cooking so slowly he started leaving Alam alone to manage Tava and also leaving the entire control of the food joint in his hands so that he would come to know whether Alam would be able to manage the customers as well as prepare the food properly without compromising on the quality. By the Grace of God, Alam did not let him down and lived up to his expectations.

In 1994 a very big opportunity came knocking at Alam's door through Jaffer Mansuri the owner of Jaffer Bhai's Delhi Darbar Restaurant and catering. Mr. Jaffer Bhai Mansuri had come to eat at Alam's joint and was so impressed by the quality and flavours of the food that he asked Alam if he would be able to manage a stall of Tava items whenever he would get a catering order to which Alam agreed. From that day onwards by the blessing of God and his parents Alam has never let Jaffer bhai nor his customers down. Alam learns a lot from the feedback his clients give him, whether they are good or bad he takes it in his stride and works on it to make his food more tasty.
